Volkswagen Golf Plus For Sale
A used VW Golf Plus is halfway between a conventional small hatch and an MPV. There's more head and legroom than in the regular Golf, and the rear seats slide back and forth to juggle passenger space and luggage room, but the cabin isn't as practical as the best people carriers'.

Volkswagen Golf Plus Review
For: Roomier than a standard Golf, comfortable ride, efficient diesels.
Against: Cabin not as clever as the best MPVs', wind noise at speed.
Autoquake.com verdict: star
Why buy one?
If you'd like to own a Golf but need a little extra space, a used Volkswagen Golf Plus makes a lot of sense. As the name implies, this is a Golf with a little bit extra. There's more head and legroom in the back and the rear seats slide back and forth to juggle passenger and boot space.
There's a good range of petrol and diesel versions to choose from. The diesels are very fuel efficient. Whichever engine is under the bonnet, a used Golf Plus rides comfortably.
Why think twice?
A second-hand Golf Plus isn't as clever inside as, say, a Citroen C4 Picasso. If hidden storage and seats which fold into the floor are important to you, the Golf Plus shouldn't be top of your list.
Wind noise can be intrusive at speed.
How safe?
The Golf Plus comes with a long list of safety equipment, including plenty of airbags. Although it hasn't been assessed by Euro NCAP, other Golf models have performed well in crash tests.
What might go wrong?
Some owners have reported problems with the headlamps and the odd electrical gremlin. However, the Golf Plus achieved strong scores for mechanical reliability in the 2009 JD Power Customer Satisfaction Survey.
