Toyota Prius For Sale
The Toyota Prius is one of the greenest cars around. It uses battery power and a petrol engine to deliver low emissions and impressive fuel economy. The technology is complex but, being a Toyota, the Prius is utterly reliable. It's not the most exciting car to drive, though, and not everyone will warm to the distinctive styling.

Toyota Prius Review
For:Low emissions, good economy, quiet around down
Against:Few owners match the official economy figures, odd styling not to all tastes, expensive to buy
Autoquake.com verdict: star
Why buy one?
A used Toyota Prius is one of the most technologically advanced used cars you can buy. The combination of electric power and an efficient petrol engine brings some of the best economy and lowest emissions figures of any car.
Around town the Prius will sometimes run on electric power alone, creeping through the traffic in nearly silence.
Why think twice?
Many owners find the Prius struggles to match the official economy figures in real-world driving. That's especially true if you spend a lot of time on the motorway.
The unusual looks won't suit everyone, and strong demand means the price of a used Prius is high. You're getting Ford Focus levels of interior space, but you're not paying Focus prices.
How safe?
Very. The 2003-09 Prius scored five stars out of five for occupant protection when tested by Euro NCAP in 2004. The latest model scored an overall five out of five in 2009.
What might go wrong?
This is an exceptionally complex car, but that doesn't mean it's unreliable. Hardly anything ever goes wrong with a second-hand Prius, and if it does Toyota dealers are very good at putting things right. In fact, the Prius is such a trouble-free car that it finished second overall in the 2009 JD Power Customer Satisfaction Survey.
What do the experts say?
'Vastly improved Prius is finally a credible rival to any diesel hatch and the best hybrid car money can buy.' 4 Car.
Anything else I should know?
The third generation Prius (09-) is even cleaner and more economical than the previous model, improving claimed economy from 65.7mpg to 72.4mpg.
