Toyota Auris For Sale
A used Toyota Auris should be an entirely painless car to own. Running costs are reasonable, reliability is top notch and there's plenty of space inside. Even the most basic cars come with comprehensive safety equipment. If you're looking for excitement, though, you're better off with a Ford Focus.

Toyota Auris Review
For:Reliable, spacious, affordable
Against:Not as refined as some rivals, bland to drive
Autoquake.com verdict: star
Why buy one?
Because you want a car that absolutely positively won't let you down. Like pretty much every Toyota since time began, a used Toyota Auris is built to last for mile after mile.
It's roomy enough inside, too, so five should be able to get comfortable. The flat floor means the fifth passenger has plenty of space for their feet, which you can't say about all family hatchbacks.
The Toyota loses value quite quickly from new, which makes a second-hand Auris very affordable.
Why think twice?
It might be as sensible as cars get, but a used Auris isn't especially exciting to drive. There's nothing wrong with the way it rides and handles, but it doesn't have the poise and precision of a Ford Focus. A little less noise at motorway speeds would make long journeys more relaxing, although levels are far from unacceptable.
How safe?
Very. The Auris scored five out of five stars for occupant protection in 2006.
What might go wrong?
Very little. This is a Toyota after all.
What do the experts say?
'A good car that should be painless to own, but it's in a class full of excellent ones. It's practical and well priced, but not as desirable as the class leaders. If only it was more interesting.' 'It's a Corolla that has ditched the med-iocrity, toned up its muscles, become much more athletic and taken a course in style and aesthetics' Auto Express
Anything else I should know?
The Auris replaced the Toyota Corolla. If you don't mind driving a car which is no longer sold new, it's just as reliable and considerably cheaper, although there's less space in the back.
Which one should I buy?
- Greenest? Toyota Auris 1.4 D-4D
- Fastest? Toyota Auris 2.2 D-4D SR180
- Best? Toyota Auris 1.6 V-Matic TR 5dr
