Skoda Octavia For Sale
This is one of the best family cars you can buy. A used Skoda Octavia has so much going for it. The cabin is roomy, the boot is big enough for even the most demanding family, and the car drives well, too. If it looked more stylish and had quieter diesel engines it would be better still.

Skoda Octavia Review
For:Good to drive, roomy, reliable
Against:Looks bland, diesels can be noisy
Autoquake.com verdict: star
Why buy one?
A used Skoda Octavia is like a Volkswagen Golf, only cheaper and more spacious. What's not to like about that?
Inside, the head and legroom rivals car from the class above, even in the back seats. Everything you can see and touch has a high-quality feel, and the boot is enormous, especially if you choose the estate.
The Octavia shares many mechanical parts with the Golf, and it's every bit as good to drive with tidy handling and a comfortable ride.
Why think twice?
The badge won't necessarily impress anyone, and the looks are rather anonymous. Both the 1.9 and 2.0-litre diesel engines are noisy when accelerating hard, although both settle into the background at a steady cruise.
The older Octavia (98-04) is great value, but nothing like as roomy in the back as today's car or as good to drive.
How safe?
A used Octavia should keep you and your family safe. Both generations have scored four out of five stars in Euro NCAP crash tests.
What might go wrong?
A second-hand Octavia rarely goes wrong. The Skoda finished 13th out of 101 cars in the 2009 JD Power Customer Satisfaction Survey, winning the small family car category.
