Honda Civic For Sale
The Honda Civic used to be as exciting as a knitted cardigan, but all that changed when the new generation arrived in 2006. To most eyes, it's one of the best looking small hatches, inside and out. The Honda Civic is also very reliable, although a fidgety ride and modest rear-seat space count against it

Honda Civic Review
For:Reliable, looks like nothing else, strong performance
Against:Fidgety ride, poor visibility, cramped in the back
Autoquake.com verdict: star
Why buy one?
A used Honda Civic doesn't look like a used car. If anything, it looks like a model which shouldn't be in showrooms for another five years.
The futuristic styling is a big part of the appeal, but there are sensible reasons to buy one, too. Reliability is every bit as good as you would expect from Honda, and the engines are all strong and efficient.
In many ways, the previous generation Honda Civic (00-06) couldn't be more different. It looks as staid as the current car is stylish, but it's considerably roomier than today's model.
Why think twice?
The looks do have their disadvantages, in particular rear visibility. The rear spoiler slices the view behind you in half, while the sloping roofline is an irritation for anyone sat in the back, as it reduces headroom. Anyone looking for more passenger space would be much better off with a Skoda Octavia.
How safe?
A second-hand Civic is very safe indeed. The current model scored five stars out of five when crash tested by Euro NCAP in 2009. The previous version earned four stars.
What might go wrong?
A used Honda Civic should give many miles of trouble-free motoring. It finished 15th out of 101 cars in the 2009 JD Power Customer Satisfaction Survey.
