Honda Accord For Sale
A used Honda Accord is one of the best family cars you can buy. It's comfortable and refined on the motorway, but surprisingly good fun when the road starts to twist and turn, too. The 2.2-litre diesel is exceptionally quiet and economical, while the Tourer has enough load space to moonlight as a removal van

Honda Accord Review
For:Good to drive, reliable, practical estate
Against:Costs more than a Ford Mondeo or Vauxhall Vectra, no hatchback version
Autoquake.com verdict: star
Why buy one?
If you want a car that's at home on motorways and back-roads alike, a used Honda Accord is for you. It's quiet and refined at speed, with good fuel economy if you go for the diesel. Turn onto twistier routes and the Accord shows great poise.
The Honda is well made and stands up to high-mileages well. It's reasonably spacious, too, especially if you go for the Tourer (estate), which makes a great load-carrier.
The new Honda Accord (08-) isn't around in large numbers on the used market just yet, but it shares the same strengths as the previous model.
Why think twice?
There's no hatchback version of the two most recent Accord generations, which is a shame since that's the bodystyle most family car buyers prefer. Resale values are quite strong compared with the likes of the Ford Mondeo, so you'll pay more for a used Honda Accord of similar age and mileage.
How safe?
The new model has scored five out of five in Euro NCAP crash tests. The old model isn't far behind, scoring four out of five in 2003.
What might go wrong?
A second-hand Accord should prove reliable, although the diesel engine does have an appetite for oil so levels need to be checked regularly. Otherwise there's little to worry about. Unreliable cars don't finish 9th out of 101 models in the 2009 JD Power Customer Satisfaction Survey.
