Ford Galaxy For Sale
The words practical and fun don't always go together, but a used Ford Galaxy manages to be both. There's room inside for seven, with reasonable legroom even in the third row. The seats can be folded into the floor when not in use to make more luggage room. The Ford Galaxy is also good to drive, with sharp handling and a choice of responsive engines.

Ford Galaxy Review
For:Spacious, practical for seven, good to drive
Against:The S-Max is cheaper, no sliding doors
Autoquake.com verdict: star
Why buy one?
A used Ford Galaxy is one of the best seven seats MPVs. Unlike many people carriers, there's good space in the rearmost seats, so long as you choose the current car, launched in 2006. In this model, even adults should be comfortable for up to an hour or so. Boot space is also better than many rivals when every seat is occupied.
A used Galaxy is also much better to drive than most MPVs, although the smaller Ford S-Max is even more appealing to keen drivers.
Why think twice?
The Galaxy lacks the sliding doors of some rivals. Unless you really need to use all seven seats regularly, the S-Max is significantly cheaper. A diesel Galaxy in particular is relatively pricey.
How safe?
Most examples will come with a comprehensive list of safety features. The current car scored five out of five for adult occupant protection when crash tested by Euro NCAP in 2006.
What might go wrong?
What might go wrong?
Some owners have reported clunking noises from the steering and the power steering pumps have been known to fail. Too many owners have reported problems with the stereo, sat-nav and seats, leading to a disappointing performance in the 2009 JD Power Customer Satisfaction Survey.
