Used Estate Cars For Sale
The best estate cars should be ready for whatever you can throw at them, with more than enough luggage space for a family fortnight away. If you want a load-hauler with a prestige badge, the Mercedes E-Class Estate has to be a front-runner. Other excellent used estate cars include the Citroen C5 and Ford Mondeo Estate, although it's hard to argue with the Vauxhall Vectra for value.

Best Estate cars
Best estate car for space
Fold the back seats down, and you could almost live in a Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate. It's simply huge. You'll rarely need to fold the seats flat, though, since luggage space is plentiful even when they are upright. A used E-Class Estate isn't cheap, but its quality is worth paying for.
Best estate car for value
Judged purely on value for money, nothing beats the Vauxhall Vectra Estate. These cars lose value quickly from new, which makes them great value on the used market. The Vectra has loads of luggage space, seats up or down. It's also a better car to drive than reputation suggests, with a comfortable ride and impressive refinement. Either of the 1.9-litre diesels are good choices, especially if you cover a lot of miles.
Best estate car for driver appeal
It's easy to forget that you're driving a big estate car when behind the wheel of a Ford Mondeo Estate. The steering is meaty and precise, and the car corners with an agility which belies its size. That's especially true of the current generation car (07-), although earlier Mondeos also make the driver smile. Entertainment doesn't come at the expense of practicality. These are roomy cars for passengers and luggage.
Best estate car for reliability
For mile after mile of reliable load-lugging, try the Honda Accord Tourer. The Accord finished ninth out of 101 cars in the 2009 JD Power Customer Satisfaction Survey, with very few mechanical problems reported. The Accord Tourer is good to drive and has plenty of luggage space, too.
Best estate car for style
We can't think of a better looking estate car than the Audi A4 Avant. If anything, it looks even better than the saloon. It's not the most spacious estate car, but if you want a compact exec with added practicality, the A4 Avant is the car for you.
