BMW 3 Series For Sale
If there's a better used compact exec than the BMW 3 Series, we'd love to drive it. As you'd expect of a BMW, it's great to drive. The BMW 3 Series also refined, comfortable and surprisingly affordable to run. With a little more space in the back and a softer ride at low speeds, the 3 Series would be nearly perfect.

BMW 3 Series Review
For:Great to drive, refined for long drives, wide choice of engines
Against:Firm ride, could have more rear-seat space
Autoquake.com verdict: star
Why buy one?
Why? Because a used BMW 3 Series is one of the best cars you can buy for sensible money. Little comes close to its mix of driving pleasure, performance and refinement.
On a favourite road, the 3 Series really comes alive. But it's a satisfying car on a long drive, too. The cabin is quiet, even at motorway speeds, and the comfortable driving position makes all-day drives a pleasure.
There's a superb range of engines to choose from. Even the smallest petrols perform well, but the pick of the range is the 2.0-litre diesel in the BMW 320d. It's smooth, punchy and economical.
Why think twice?
A second-hand 3 Series is good value rather than cheap, thanks to strong resale values. Some rivals have more room in the back seats, and the ride is rather firm.
How safe?
The BMW 3 Series scored five stars in Euro NCAP crash tests.
What might go wrong?
Reliability is sound, and the 3 Series finished 20th of 101 cars in the 2009 JD Power Customer Satisfaction Survey. It is a favourite on the fleet car market for its good record on the subject.
What do the experts say?
'For many, the 3 Series is the definitive small sports saloon.' Autoexpress
