Ford C-Max TDCi

A used Focus C-Max TDCi makes an excellent high-mileage family car. You'll need to pay more than for the equivalent petrol, but the TDCi diesel engines do a better job of hauling a fully loaded car and return much better economy. The 1.6 TDCi returns 58.8mpg on the combined cycle according to official figures. The 1.8 TDCi is a little quicker but not as quiet and refined. The 2.0 TDCi is the best choice for families in a hurry.
